About Me

  • About Me: I go by the name Nixie. I don't claim to be a psychic or a medium, I'm just trying to refine my abilities, including the spiritually based ones. This is just an account of what I've done and what I'm going through. Sometimes it helps to write down one's journey, even if it doesn't start at the beginning.

Books

  • Favorite Books: I'll stick to my favorites, I guess. My absolute favorite book of all time is "Blood and Chocolate" by Annette Curtis Klause. I also quite enjoyed the Magravandias Series by Storm Constantine (I really need to pick up more of her books); "Silent Night" by Richard Laymon; "You Come When I Call You", "Naomi", and "The Hour Before Dark" by Douglas Clegg; The entire Women of the Otherworld Series by Kelley Armstrong; and "It" by Stephen King. I like a lot of books, but those are probably the ones I love the most, in no particular order.
  • Favorite Authors: Douglas Clegg is my favorite author by far. He's a remarkable person and his work is phenomenal. Every word is written with purpose and each story leaves you thinking. I also frequently read Kelley Armstrong's work, as well as works by Edgar Allan Poe, Richard Laymon, Charles Dickens, Storm Constantine, Avi, and Ellen Schreiber. I like a lot of other authors, but I haven't read as many of their works. If you really want to talk about this, I will happily recommend you some books and authors.
  • Favorite Genres: Horror, General Fiction, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and I adore the Classics.... I'll basically read anything that isn't a western.
  • Favorite Characters: In "Blood and Chocolate" by Annette Curtis Klause, my favorite character is probably Gabriel, or maybe Finn. Finn doesn't have a big role, but I adore him and his brother. I love a lot of characters in that book, but if I ever have a child, and it's a girl, I'd love to name her Vivienne. It's a variation on the name of the main character, I would love it if my daughter was a strong individual who's path in life led her to be a wiser person than I could ever be. As for other favorite characters, I loved Khaster, Tayven, and Ellony (the child) in the Magravandias Series by Storm Constantine. I forever adore Xavier, a minor character from Kelley Armstrong's series. Xavier appears in the werewolf books. I was really into Jason and Rhys in Laurel K. Hamilton's series', Anita Blake Series and Merry Gentry Series respectively. Read the early books if you want to see the characters I fell in love with. I have a hard time connecting to female characters for some reason,....
  • Favorite Quotes: This isn't an exact quotation because I don't have the book sitting in front of me. It's from one of Kelley Armstong's Women of the Otherworld books, I believe. It's one with Jaime in it. It went something like: "Hello?" I called out, as if someone was going to pop up from their hiding place and say, "I was hiding in preparation to kill you, but since you caught me, nevermind."
  • Recent Reads: I read so much. This month, the month of February in 2013 (because I doubt I will update this THAT much) I've been all over "Little Women and Werewolves" by Porter Grand, "Wraeththu" by Storm Constantine, and various stories and poems for my English classes (namely "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe)
